Victory in Motion: Loreto’s Volleyball and Runners Shine at AoC

The regional AoC tournament took place in early November, and Loreto College were represented by two groups of students – the men’s volleyball team and the endurance runners. Both sets of students spent the day at The University of Central Lancashire, UCLAN, and competed against other colleges within the Northwest. The men’s volleyball team attended the tournament as a fairly new team, with a mix of both first-year and second-year students. Despite this, they came out on top by going undefeated and winning the tournament, making them the best college men’s volleyball team within the Northwest region. The ten students who attended displayed great effort and attitude throughout the day and wonderfully represented Loreto College. The team is made up of volleyballers who play at top clubs in Manchester, and also students who have been trained up to college league level and have made great progress in the team.
The four endurance runners, Finlay, Pio, Evan and Theodor (pictured below), also attended UCLAN to compete against several other Northwest colleges. Out of roughly 30 students, 3 out of 4 Loreto College students finished in the top 3, which is a remarkable achievement. The other student ran a great race, too, despite not finishing within the top 3. These four students all run together outside of college for the same running club, which gave them an advantage during this race. All four were a credit to college as they displayed amazing skill and ran with a great attitude; they did Loreto College proud.
