Upper 6th Travel & Tourism Students Experience a Full Day of Cabin Crew Training with Skypeople, Manchester
Our Upper 6th Travel & Tourism students enjoyed an exceptional industry experience this week during their visit to the Skypeople Cabin Crew Training Centre in Manchester. The immersive, full‑day programme allowed learners to step into the role of professional cabin crew and gain first‑hand insight into the skills, responsibilities and safety procedures involved in the aviation sector.
Throughout the day, students engaged in a wide range of realistic and practical cabin crew training activities, including:
- Operation of aircraft doors – learning correct procedures and safety checks
- PA safety demonstrations– delivering the essential safety messages heard on every flight
- Emergency ditching evacuation drills – understanding passenger management in emergency water landings
- Smoke‑filled cabin search and rescue – practising locating and assisting passengers in low‑visibility situations
- Cabin fire‑fighting exercises – using specialist equipment to respond quickly and safely to onboard fires
- Slide descent training – experiencing the speed and technique required to evacuate via an aircraft escape slide
This invaluable visit not only strengthened students’ understanding of the aviation industry but also helped develop the confidence, communication and safety awareness essential for anyone pursuing a future career as cabin crew.
