The tradition of Excellence inspired by Mary Ward and the pioneering women who embraced her charism has been carried into the new millennium and added to Sincerity, Truth, Joy, Justice, Freedom and Internationality.
2004
Demolition of the College’s old buildings begins in June.
A new purpose-built college is being constructed on the site.
2007
Ward Building and the Sports Hall are blessed by the Very Reverend Canon Anthony McBride, Episcopal Vicar for Formation.
2008
The Chapel building returns to its former glory with a specialist team restoring all the original timber, woodwork and stained-glass windows.
2009
Loreto College is awarded the Queen’s Prizes for Further and Higher Education.

The Crest Logo Returns
Loreto Manchester’s new logo reflects our history while embracing our presence in the new millennium.
The new ultra -green Ellis and Kennedy building, Loreto Sixth Form College, named in memory of the early pioneers of Loreto education in England, was blessed in June 2010 by the Very Reverend Canon Anthony McBride, Episcopal Vicar for Formation and opened by Sir Richard Leese, Leader of Manchester City Council and Sir Howard Bernstein, Chief Executive of Manchester City Council.

2015
St Joseph’s Building opened on site.
The building was blessed by the Right Reverend John Arnold, Bishop of Salford
2018
Principal Ann Clynch retires and Peter McGhee joins Loreto as Executive Principal, overseeing Loreto College and St John Rigby College.
2019
Michael Jaffrain becomes Principal of Loreto College.

Loreto appoints a Sustainability Manager and publishes its sustainability strategy, leading the way for colleges in the UK.
The College is awarded the Quality in Careers Standard Award
The extension to Ball Cafeteria is completed.
The COVID-19 pandemic led the UK to go into lockdown.

2022
Loreto is buzzing after installing an apiary on the Ellis and Kennedy building.

2023
Ofsted grade Loreto College Outstanding, citing:
“Students who study at Loreto do exceptionally well.”
Loreto purchased adjacent land and has planning approved to build a new three-story building with 20 classrooms, which aims to support campus growth and invest in the future of the community.

2024
Secretary of State for Education, Bridget Phillipson, visits Loreto to congratulate students and staff for outstanding results, above the national average at every measure.

2025
The new building project, ‘St Vincent’s’ and ‘Our Lady’s’, is set to open to the college community in September 2025.
