What is Student Services?

Student Services at Loreto College offers a wide range of support to help you make the most of your time here. The team works closely with other departments, including the college counsellors and ALS (Academic Learning Support). You can find Student Services in BG19, located just opposite the main reception. Pop in for a chat or to find out more about how we can support you.

Did you know..

Student Services can support you in getting help for your mental health.

We offer support in foodbank referrals and can give you advice.

If you are worried about someone else, you can speak to us about it.

We are here to listen and support you!

If something has happened, you can tell us.

At Loreto, every student matters, and we want to make sure you have the support you need to feel happy, confident, and ready to do your best.

We encourage any students who are young carers, looked after, adopted, living independently or living with adults other than parents, to use support from the Student Services Team.

College students have access to free period products, which are placed in toilets around the college. Packets of sanitary towels, tampons and reusable sanitary products are all available for students to take and are available from Student Services, Heads of Halls, Chaplaincy and the First Aid Room.

During Enrolment, it helps us to know anything that might make your time at college a little easier. If there’s something you’re finding difficult or you just need a bit of support, pop in and see the Student Support Team in the E&K Theatre for a friendly, discreet chat. We’re here to help!

Study Support

We understand that the transition from GCSE to A-Level content can be difficult. If you need support with your studies, you can receive this through a Study Support Appointment.

The Study Support Advisors offer help with time management, essay writing techniques, organisation of notes and revision strategies. Most importantly, we want you to build confidence in reaching your full potential!

You can request a Study Support Appointment through your tutor or Head of Hall.

Support Resources

Looking after your physical and mental health is very important.

We want you to enjoy your time at Loreto but understand where the pressures of life or college may have an impact on your wellbeing.

We encourage you to seek support where you may need and to speak to any member of staff in Student Services if you are struggling.

You can access some mental health support on our website.

Safeguarding

The Safeguarding Team at Loreto are friendly and caring. Their role is to ensure that students are safe, healthy and happy. Safeguarding Officers offer support to all our students, whether that be supporting them with their mental health, keeping them safe from harm, or supporting them with any other challenges they may be facing.

Friendly Friday

Our Friendly Friday group meet every Friday lunchtime in the Chaplaincy. The group provides an opportunity for students to meet new friends, join in activities and games and have some fun. These have included: Joint painting activity, Mindful colouring in, Bingo, Gingerbread/Easter Egg decorating, Trips to the Hulme Community Garden Centre and a lot more!

The group is flexible, with students coming along at any time throughout the year!
