Male and female cross country runners from Loreto College arms around each other in a line.
Loreto’s cross country runners

Six of Loreto College’s men’s cross-country runners travelled to Coventry to take part in the King Henry VIII Relay Race.  The race attracts students from across the country to compete with the best of their peers, as well as attempt to match the times of Lord Sebastian Coe and the Brownlee Brothers Alistair and Jonathan. Each of the six team members are required to complete a 2.3 mile loop, before passing the baton on to the next member of the team.

The Loreto team started the race impeccably and positioning themselves into second place after completing the first two loops. Gradually the team fell back, but managed to hold on and clinch 7th position out of 44 teams. The standard of the competitors was extremely high, so to finish within the top 10 is an outstanding achievement. Stand out laps came courtesy of Ethan and Louie who both completed the leg in under 12 minutes. The rest of the team added great performances to improve on last year’s performance. Team list: Ethan, Louie, Charlie, Jack, Fraser and Ned.

We should give a special mention to Cleo and Nicola too, for taking part in the female relay.

Congratulations to all students involved and we look forward to competing again next year!
