Loreto Biology students participated in the annual British Biology Olympiad (BBO) 2025. The BBO challenges and inspires students interested in Biology to expand their knowledge and skills. It allows participants to showcase their talents and earn publicly recognised certificates. The competition consists of two 45-minute multiple-choice papers, taken online under supervised exam conditions. Students encounter topics and concepts that are new to them, requiring them to rely on their problem-solving skills and understanding of core principles.

Congratulations to all participants who received certificates! Special recognition goes to Ogooluwa (pictured left) and Hannah for earning bronze certificates, Omar and Maheen for receiving silver certificates, and Ella (pictured right) for achieving a gold certificate. Bronze is awarded to the top 15% of entrants, silver to the top 10%, and gold is the highest award, given to only 5% of participants.

In addition to encouraging students in their studies, the BBO is the first stage in selecting a team to represent the UK at the International Biology Olympiad (IBO). Further congratulations go to Ella for progressing to the selection stage!
