The last couple of months have seen the exam season in full swing, AS students taking study leave and, excitingly, the appearance of the latest E&K Records annual compilation. Now in its fifth year the E&K Records label represents the combined efforts of students working in the music and music tech departments – as well as talent from the rest of the college – to record tracks in a downloadable format, for the enjoyment of fellow students and the wider public. This year’s compilation, the largest yet, features fourteen tracks, all produced, mixed and mastered by the students themselves, covering a range of styles from tropical house to neo-soul and even traditional folk. Artists showcased include local band The Claremonts and Loreto Talent Show finalist, vocalist Ellen Baker. With artwork created by Jack Taylor and Kieran Bradley, and appropriate links to sound cloud and other multi-media areas, EK05 is set to be the most successful yet. Within days of its release the tracks had been streamed over 1000 times!
