Upper and Lower Sixth students of Fine Art, 3D Design, Graphics, Photography and Textiles, recently had the opportunity to visit one of Europe’s most vibrant and exciting cities, Berlin. On a three night residential trip students explored the history of the city and gathered primary reference material for the externally set assignment exam unit, and the personal investigation unit of their A level courses.

A packed schedule saw students visiting historical sites such as the Reichstag, the Brandenburg Gate, Checkpoint Charlie and the Holocaust Memorial. Artistic highlights included the East Side Gallery, Bauhaus Archiv Museum, C/O Berlin Gallery, the Berlinische Galerie (Museum of Modern Art) and the Museum of Photography.

They also managed to take in the Alternative Berlin guided walk and workshop. This crowded itinerary led to a highly enjoyable, stimulating educational experience for everyone concerned.
