Students studying A Level Geography recently enjoyed a hands-on fieldwork experience along the picturesque North Wales coast, visiting Llandudno and Colwyn Bay to develop essential skills for their course.
During the trip, students carried out a range of practical activities, including calculating beach profiles and investigating weathering and mass movement processes on the Little Orme. The day also offered a chance to strengthen teamwork—and even included a surprise encounter with a curious seal!
Mr Grundy, Head of Geography, described the visit as an ideal opportunity for students to apply classroom learning in a real-world setting.
“Llandudno provides a fantastic environment for developing fieldwork skills,” he said.
“By offering day trips throughout the year, we ensure all students gain the experience they need while keeping costs affordable for families.”
This trip marks the first of four fieldwork days spread across the two-year A Level course. These experiences build towards a major independent investigation, where students produce a 3,000-word piece of coursework in their final year.
