The netball team have continued their successful start with a comfortable win over Rochdale Sixth Form College.

Loreto controlled the game throughout and although Rochdale showed some flashes of brilliance, it was never enough to overcome a comfortable looking Loreto side. Every player got court time during this encounter and different combinations were trialled, without causing any hindrance to the team’s performance.

Giselle Yeboah was Loreto’s ‘Player of the Match’ for her stand out performance in defence; her partnership with Olivia Hickey was resolute, making Rochdale work overtime for every goal they scored. Jasmine McAvoy was once again a force to be reckoned with at GD, her ability to completely shut down opposition players is remarkable. Isabelle Tyler and Jayda Yeboah shared the WD bib for the duration of the game, both of whom were tenacious and disrupted Rochdale’s flow at every possible moment. Daisy Shea played out the game at WA, her drives to the top of the circle and vision into the shooters was second to none.

Loreto’s shooting circle changed each quarter, to allow new partnerships to form, with each shooting pair adding to the winning tally. Again, Emily Brocklebank displayed her perfect shooting technique and paired up seamlessly with captain, Freya Coggins, who was as brilliant as ever. Lily Berry made her college netball team debut, proving to be a valued team member – her movement in and around the shooting circle was slick and her accuracy under the post was faultless.

Once again, all-rounder Kemi Onasanya was a standout performer for Loreto, switching positions seamlessly from WA to GA and finally to C, to see out the game. Grace McAvoy worked tirelessly in the C position for most of the game, earning herself a well-deserved rest in the final quarter and ‘Opposition’s Player of the Match’.

Loreto were dominant and flawless from the get-go and maintained this perfect form for the duration of the game, with every player contributing to the win.

The final score finished Loreto 45 – 29 Rochdale Sixth Form.
