20 ex-Loreto students recently attended a prestigious event at St James’s Palace in London, where they received their Gold Duke of Edinburgh’s Awards.  The students, many of whom travelled from universities around the country where they are now following degree courses, completed the five sections for their award whilst studying at Loreto.  They were accompanied by family members who enjoyed the opportunity to witness the presentation of this respected accolade.  The Duke of Edinburgh himself was on hand to present the Awards, discussing their expeditions and residential sections with a number of Loreto students.  The Duke was on fine form with plenty of funny anecdotes, making for a memorable experience for all.  The students also met the comedian, Greg Davis, star of The Inbetweeners, who entertained the group whilst aiding the presentation.  Loreto was particularly praised for the provision of DofE and the excellent success rate of students completing both their Silver and Gold Awards.

Loreto is one of the premier centres of student participation and the biggest sixth form provider for DofE in Greater Manchester. We currently have over 150 students working towards Gold and Silver awards.
