Loreto College History Trip Explores ‘History Reimagined for a Changing World’

On 29th September, to mark the start of Black History Month, a group of Loreto College History students attended a lecture by David Olusoga OBE, Professor of Public History at the University of Manchester. The event was exclusive to Year 13 students, who heard Professor Olusoga discuss the importance of studying history, how Black British History can reveal hidden narratives, and why it is crucial to bring these stories to the forefront.
Professor Olusoga, the acclaimed author of the bestselling ‘Black and British’ book and BAFTA Award winner for his TV work, which includes Civilisations and A House Through Time, delivered a thought-provoking and informative lecture. Afterwards, students joined Professor Olusoga for a Q&A. Professor Olusoga was also introduced by a former Loreto College student. Maleehah Rehman, who has recently graduated from Manchester University with a degree in History.
