Upper Sixth members of the Student Council were recognised for their dedication at a special thank you lunch held on Tuesday, 5th May. The event, which included pizza and a relaxed opportunity to reflect, celebrated the important role these students have played within the Loreto community.
Principal Michael Jaffrain addressed the group, offering his sincere thanks and praising their commitment, maturity, and leadership. Representing a student body of around 4,000 peers, the council has worked hard to ensure that student voices are heard and valued across the college.
Their contribution has gone far beyond the classroom. Council members have regularly attended meetings after college, often staying until 6 pm, even during the winter months. Throughout, they have engaged thoughtfully in discussions on a wide range of topics, from student wellbeing to college facilities, always demonstrating a strong sense of responsibility and respect for differing perspectives.
Acting as a bridge between students and staff, the council has helped shape positive change and strengthen the sense of community at Loreto. Their willingness to listen, speak up, and collaborate has had a lasting impact, and their efforts have been greatly appreciated.
The lunch provided a well-earned opportunity to acknowledge this contribution and to celebrate the skills students have developed along the way, including teamwork, communication, and leadership—qualities that will serve them well in the future.
As these Upper Sixth students now begin their exams, the college community wishes them every success. Balancing their studies alongside their council responsibilities has been no small achievement, and they should be incredibly proud of all they have accomplished.
