What would you say if you had the chance to speak to President Biden? This was the question asked of students as part of a recent essay writing competition, ‘Letters to a Us President’ held by The University of Manchester’. Loreto College History student Aisha Mukadam answered enthusiastically and Aisha was placed a runner up in a strong field of entries in the UK wide competition run through the American Studies department. Students were asked to consider what issues should the new president and vice president prioritize during their first few months in office? What are your hopes for the shape of our future world? Aisha wrote a thought provoking essay highlighting the issue of Islamophobia and asking the new US President to consider how education can be used to fight against racism in society. Well done Aisha!
