Governance: Further Information

What is a Foundation Governor?

Foundation Governors play a vital role in preserving and developing the Catholic character of the College. Working alongside other governors and senior leaders, they help oversee the strategic direction of the College and ensure that decisions are made in the best interests of students and the wider College community.

Governors do not run the College on a day-to-day basis. Instead, they provide support, challenge and oversight, helping to ensure the College remains financially sustainable, educationally successful and faithful to its Catholic mission.

Why consider this role?

By becoming a Foundation Governor, you help:

  • Shape the future of young people at a crucial stage of their lives
  • Support Catholic education in today’s changing world
  • Protect and promote the Catholic ethos of the College
  • Use your skills, experience and faith in a practical and lasting way
  • Serve both the Church and the wider community

Many governors describe the role as rewarding, meaningful and a valuable way to contribute to something bigger than themselves.

Who can become a Foundation Governor?

You do not need experience in education, management or governance. Foundation Governors come from many different professions and walks of life.

Foundation Governors are practising Catholics who are committed to supporting the mission of Catholic education and helping young people flourish. Governors contribute a wide range of skills, experiences and perspectives, and all share a desire to serve the College community and support its Catholic ethos.

No previous governance experience is required. Full training and ongoing support are provided.
