Loreto Sixth Form College participates in eduroam, the secure global Wi-Fi roaming service for the education and research community.

eduroam allows Loreto students and staff to use their College account to access secure wireless internet both on campus and at thousands of participating universities, colleges, schools, libraries and research organisations throughout the UK and around the world.

We also provide eduroam access for visitors from other participating institutions, allowing them to connect using the credentials issued by their home organisation.

Getting started with eduroam

The recommended way to connect to eduroam is by using the official geteduroam app.

The app automatically configures your device with the correct security settings and helps ensure a secure and reliable connection.

Once set up, your device will automatically connect to eduroam whenever it is within range of a participating eduroam wireless network.

Who can use eduroam?

The eduroam service is available to:

  • Current Loreto students and staff
  • Visitors from other organisations participating in the eduroam federation

Using eduroam at Loreto College

Students and staff can use eduroam on personally owned devices (BYOD), including:

  • Laptops
  • Tablets
  • Smartphones
  • Other compatible wireless devices

After configuring your device using the geteduroam app, simply connect to the eduroam wireless network while on campus.

The service provides secure, encrypted wireless access and removes the need to use a separate guest network for everyday College use.

Loreto College uses a transparent web filter to block access to inappropriate or malicious content. Web traffic is routed through the web filter but we do not decrypt or inspect HTTPS requests for Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) usage. Please remember that all usage is subject to the acceptable use policies linked below.

Using eduroam at a participating institution

One of the key benefits of eduroam is that the same account can be used at participating institutions worldwide.

Once you have connected to eduroam, you can simply connect to the eduroam Wi-Fi network in your device settings when visiting another university, college, school, library or research organisation that offers eduroam. You only need to configure your device once.
