Looking forward to this week’s instalment of live music and free giveaways, and a very special version of communituesday with performances from staff!

Due to the popularity of Loreto’s community days, the college has introduced ‘communituesday’ as a weekly lunchtime event. Each week in a college cafeteria, there are live music performances from students. Every ‘communituesday’ reflects a particular theme, a national celebration or one of Loreto’s 11 Hall patrons or one of the college’s values.

So far we have celebrated St Patrick’s Day, International day of happiness and Easter. Students sign up to perform their act each week in a range of music styles and genres from Indie, rock, pop, musical theatre, funk, soul rap and grime. On St Patrick’s Day ‘communituesday’ we dedicated the performances to traditional Irish music and the cast of Legally Blonde reunited for a one of performance of the song ‘Ireland’ from the show.

On each day, the community of the college share a treat – a hot chocolate, mince pies and lollipops. These treats, combined with music, raffle draws and prizes give a real ‘feel-good’ factor to each week and gives students the opportunity to appreciate each other’s talents and skills.

We look forward to hearing from the students as to how they want to develop Communituesday and celebrate together the rich diversity of our college community.
