A Tribute to Mr Silcock

It is with deep sadness that we share the news that our friend and colleague, Mr Silcock, has died.

Mr Silcock will be known to many in our College community as a much-loved Core RE teacher and one of our Chaplain. Through the years, Mr Silcock has taught and supported many Loreto students, including siblings and family members of those currently with us.

He will be remembered for his faithful dedication to teaching, his warm sense of humour, and his kind, empathetic nature. Mr Silcock always championed our students. He coordinated support for the Manchester Access Programme, helping many young people progress to university, and generously gave his time through study-support appointments and UCAS references. He also shared his wisdom and inspiration through the College’s Weekly Worship in Tutorial.

Mr Silcock will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

As a mark of respect, the College will be closed to students and staff on Friday 2nd October 2026, allowing our community time to mourn, reflect and give thanks for Mr Silcock’s life and all that he gave to Loreto.

We invite all members of our community to keep Mr Silcock, his family, friends and colleagues in their thoughts and prayers.

Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord,
and let perpetual light shine upon him.
May he rest in peace. Amen.
