Loreto’s Cultural Appreciation Week 2026: A Vibrant Celebration of Community and Culture

From 27th April to 1st May, Loreto College came alive with an unforgettable Cultural Appreciation Week, celebrating the diversity and spirit that define our community. Throughout the week, students embraced the opportunity to share their identities, learn from one another and take pride in the rich range of cultures represented across campus.
Rooted firmly in our Mary Ward values, Cultural Appreciation Week was a powerful reflection of internationality, justice, freedom, sincerity and joy in action. Students expressed their identities with confidence and honesty, showing respect and curiosity towards others and creating an inclusive atmosphere throughout.
The Art and Poetry Competition launched the week, inviting students to produce thoughtful, culturally inspired work and showcase it across the college. Interactive activities, including the shared cultural playlist, the culture quiz and the reflection stall, encouraged students to take part, connect and reflect on what it means to be part of such a diverse community.
The highlight of the week came on Friday’s Community Celebration Day, which brought the entire college together in a truly special way. Huge numbers of students and staff wore cultural attire, filling the campus with colour, pride and a strong sense of belonging. The day was marked by a genuine spirit of respect and celebration, as people shared and appreciated each other’s cultures.
The student‑led playlist provided a vibrant soundtrack for the day, featuring music from cultures across the world. At the same time, live performances from the staff band brought the community together even further, celebrating global music and shared joy.
Cultural Appreciation Week was a celebration of difference and unity. It highlighted the strength of our community and the importance of recognising and learning from one another.
Thank you to everyone who took part and helped make the week such a success!
