In beautiful sunshine, Loreto’s Geography students visited the contrasting areas of Macclesfield Forest and the village of Prestbury to develop their geographical fieldwork skills, calculating river discharge, infiltration rates, and land use. In addition, the River Bollin is a case study that will be examined in their physical geography A-Level paper in May.
Head of Geography, Mr Grundy, said the students had enjoyed the day and it had been excellent preparation for the upcoming exam for the Water and Carbon Cycle unit. The fieldwork is the last of the four required days for the A-Level in Geography. Students have also visited Llandudno in North Wales, Salford Quays, the Sefton Coast, the Peak District and parts of Greater Manchester for their coursework. In addition, many students participated in an amazing trip to Iceland in February.
