Social Sciences

Below are some of the stories of former Loreto students who have progressed onto Social Sciences

Saraf - Class of 2022

Subjects Studied at Loreto: A Level Chemistry, A Level Maths, A Level Economics

Reflections on Loreto:

“I have taken opportunities to shape my education, gain professional experience, and give back to my community, building a strong foundation for my future ambitions”

After Loreto:

“Since leaving Loreto College, I have focused on developing both academically and professionally. I am currently studying BSc Economics with Professional Experience Year at the University of Manchester, a programme that was newly introduced. I had the opportunity to contribute as a student representative during its launch, providing feedback on the course structure and advocating for the inclusion of the placement year. Being part of this process allowed me to help shape the course for future students, ensuring it combined strong academic learning with practical, career-focused experience.

During my placement year, I am working as a Financial Analyst at AtkinsRéalis in the Aerospace, Defence, Security & Technology division, where I am responsible for revenue forecasting, cost tracker rollouts, CRM validation, and FTE forecasting. I have also helped automate reports and develop forecasting tools, working independently with teams across the business. This role has enabled me to apply my academic knowledge to real-world projects and build strong analytical, problem-solving, and organisational skills.
Outside of academics and work, I have pursued personal and community development. I completed the Great Manchester Half-Marathon, raising over £500 for UNICEF, and I play football for the Malaysian Society team. These experiences have strengthened my leadership, teamwork, and time-management skills”.

Reflections on Loreto:

“My humble beginnings as a Loreto Economics Student taught me to read the world differently and ultimately instilled a strong sense of discipline and rigour when it came to answering economics questions”
