Books and Physical Resources

Our Library and study centres offer a fantastic selection of resources to support your studies, wider interests and future plans. Collectively, our library and study centres house over 34,000 physical resources, including core curriculum textbooks, revision guides and reference information to strengthen course material. Whilst the main collection of books is held in the Library, we have satellite Fiction libraries in each of the centres. Students can borrow up to six resources at a time and can manage their loans and reserve books for collection via their online Library Account.

PC and Laptops

We provide a variety of IT facilities in the centres, including PCs, laptops and printers, with a set of high-spec Art and Design PCs in the LRC, and a self-service laptop bank in the Directed Study Hub. If you have any technical issues, our team are on hand to support you.

Online Resources

Our library catalogue, eBooks, eJournals and online resources are all available on our internal website: LOLLI (Loreto’s Online Library and Learning Information Portal). We have curated a brilliant collection of high-quality online resources, including video lectures, magazine and journal archives, virtual learning environments and newspaper subscriptions for you to access both on and off campus.

Journals and Magazines

To complement our already comprehensive collection of resources, we have online and paper-based academic journals, and reading for pleasure magazines. Our journals provide valuable information to support research for your coursework and assignments, and prepare you for the higher level of reading you will need for university.

External Links

Loreto Library has developed links with both community and local university libraries to maximise the resources and learning environments available for you to access. If you’re interested in utilising the resources from these libraries, you can find out further information on the LSC website.

Study Centres

We are very proud to offer four fantastic spaces for study, each designed to support different learning styles. The Library offers a calm and airy space for silent individual study, and for assignments requiring co-working and collaboration the LRC and Ball Study Centre allow quiet discussion. Ward Hub is our designated space for Directed Study Periods (DSPs), which are timetabled study sessions.

Events and Promotions

We love to get involved in college-wide themes such as Black History Month, LGBTQ+ and Mental Health Awareness, and our celebrations for Loreto Book Week in March are an annual highlight. We provide resource recommendations and informative displays, as well as exciting competitions, events, and promotions. We are also proud to run an in-house volunteering programme for lower sixth students, designed to support development of skills beyond the curriculum.

LOLLI

LOLLI is Loreto’s Online Library and Learning Information (LOLLI) portal. As the gateway to all your resource needs, LOLLI can be accessed from home and in college. From here you can access all of our eResources, social media sites, your library account and our external links. We also offer a click and collect service from this portal.

LOLLI is your one-stop shop for all your research, revision, coursework, class work, and intellectual curiosity needs!

We really look forward to sharing all our resources, facilities and services with you at your induction.
