5 GCSEs at grades 9-4 including either English or Maths
BTEC Level 2 at Merit or above PLUS three GCSE’s 9-4 including either Maths or English
BTEC Extended Diploma in Sport enables students to becomeoccupationally ready to take up employment in the sport sector either straight from college or after Higher Education. Students who have completed the qualification go onto study a wide range of Sports relate degree programmes at university.
Whilst completing the BTEC Extended Diploma in Sport, students will develop a wide range of skills, which will be beneficial to their next step into employment or Higher Education. For example, whilst studying coaching and leadership, students will develop their communication and presentation skills. Studying the organisation of events and work experience allows students to develop key employability skills and knowledge of working as part of a team. Fitness training and fitness testing will allow students to develop their social and communication skills on a one-to-one basis. Through the completion of coursework and exam components, students will develop their analytical and report writing skills.
The majority of students progress onto Higher Education to study a wide variety of Sports related degrees. Past students have completed degrees in Sports Coaching, Sports Nutrition, Sports Rehabilitation, Sports Therapy, Primary/Secondary School Teaching, Sports Psychology and Sports Management. Students also progress into employment after completing the qualification, gaining employment in roles such as sports coaching, personal training and leisure roles.
