Deserving Loreto students have been awarded bursaries of £1000 each to help them meet the cost of their University studies, thanks to the generosity of The Dick Camplin Educational Trust, which was established by David Camplin in memory of his father.
The Dick Camplin Education Trust presents these bursaries to students as they progress from Loreto College to university.
Ms Barker, senior tutor said, “Loreto is very grateful to Mr Camplin and the sponsors for making this opportunity available to our students.”
Students, accompanied by their families and friends, were presented with these bursaries by Trust patron Nigel Hurst from Haden Freeman at a special event.
The first of the Trust’s bursary winners are graduating from university this summer. Farah Ahmed, a Dick Camplin scholar who is now a law graduate from Manchester University, gave an inspirational speech at the presentation explaining just what the award had meant to her.
David Camplin addressed the audience to explain the difference the bursaries had made to many students’ lives. ‘David works tirelessly throughout the year with business leaders and professionals to raise money for the awards,’ said Trust patron Nigel Hurst.
