STEM Engineering and Tech Challenge

ImageFour teams of five AS students were again entered for the STEM Engineering and Technology Challenge, which is held each year in July. Teams have to design and develop a project working with an industrial mentor. This year the teams were involved in projects on Antenna Design and Construction, Signal Interlocking on Railways, Traffic Management and Power Generation, which involved the construction of a model wind turbine. The Loreto team undertaking the Traffic Management Project was awarded 1st prize overall. All team members taking part earn a Silver Crest award as the projects involve students undertaking more than 30 hours each.
