Over 80 students from all over the college enjoyed an entertaining and enthusiastic presentation by Rotary Ambassadorial scholar Ryan Zoradi. Ryan, from California, is studying for a Masters degree at Manchester University on a scholarship which is supported by the Rotary Club.
He gave a fascinating insight into his experiences and the opportunities he has been provided with as a result of this sponsorship. Studying in another country has enabled him to meet a wide diversity of people and to have the chance to travel both locally and internationally as well as gain a post-graduate qualification from a prestigious university.
The Rotary Ambassadorial scholarship, based on the Rotary ideal of ‘Service not Self’ is open to anyone who wants to study in another country and act as an ambassador of goodwill. There was a great deal of interest amongst the students in this programme and several indicated that they hoped to follow up this opportunity in the future.
