Those interested in pharmacy got to see how medicines are dispensed in the hospital and witnessed how three clumsy-sounding robots known as Crash, Bang and Wallop select the correct drugs for patients.

The young people also spent time chatting to Pharmacists and technicians about the day to day work of the department and how they could join the pharmacy team.
Meanwhile other students hoping to work in health care attended the National Pathology Open Day at the same Hospital which focused on Mothers & Babies.
According to Loreto Chemistry teacher, Mrs Winn, students particularly enjoyed learning how to take blood from a dummy patient, wash their hands properly, and finding out how special incubators help premature babies.
She added that there was also a range of high quality interactive displays and exhibits and staff were on hand to answer students’ questions and demonstrate techniques.
Mrs Winn said the visit had been extremely useful: “It was a brilliant event in which our students discovered the huge range of careers available in the NHS and the various routes they can take to achieve success,” she said.
