A group of staff and students accompanied the Principal on her visit to Buckingham Palace and had the honour of meeting and talking to the Queen. The event was an amazing experience for all concerned and everyone felt very proud that the achievements of the students and staff of Loreto had been recognised in this way.

Ann Clynch, CBE

As a member of the National Council for Educational Excellence for the past two years, Loreto College, Principal, Ann Clynch C.B.E., has acted as an advisor to Prime Minister Gordon Brown on government education policy.

“The monthly trips to London, Euston and then on to the Downing Street meetings are demanding but worthwhile, “says Ms. Clynch. “I feel that the Prime Minister and his aides really listen to the group and are open to the suggestions and comments from the select practioners in the group.”

AoC Beacon

Through advice, sustained support and careful monitoring of their progress, Loreto Sixth Form College has helped students to achieve higher grades than the national average in their A-levels. These results have placed the College at the top of the Government league table for value-added. It also noted that 85% of Loreto students go on to higher education.

The AoC Beacon Award judges commended Loreto and said its belief that every child matters, together with appropriate investment and hard work, has altered the lives of many young people and increased the opportunities open to them.
