Prosperous Society

ImageImageLoreto students joined Catholic sixth formers from around the country to take part in an event to solve the biggest challenges facing society.

 

The young people took part in the Social Impact Challenge 2011 which involved all 17 Catholic sixth form colleges from across England and Wales.
 
In Master classes on profession-related disciplines, teams of young delegates identified what a ‘prosperous’ society would look like, explored current issues in their discipline, and tackled a challenge.
 
ImageBethany Felton was part of the winning team - Pathfinders in the Business group. They developed a business plan for a business that helped integrate vulnerable people into society by finding them jobs in the community.
 
In the Diplomacy and Policy Group, Fiona Clark was in the winning political party voted best of their peers for their policies.

 

The classes were delivered by experts across all fields of society from government, trades unions to architects and heads of social investment .Image The Students were divided up into six subject areas: Art and Media; Business and Enterprise; Engineering, Science & Maths; Philosophy and Theology; Diplomacy and Policy and Informatics.
 
The event was supported by the Association of Catholic Sixth Form Colleges to celebrate the Year of Catholic Education.
