Music Technology students visit Futureworks

ImageImageMusic Technology students have visited Futureworks Media School to investigate its recording and post-production studios.

As part of the visit to the Manchester City Centre Media school the Loreto students also had feedback from the head of study on music tracks they have produced as part of their AS studies.

After a question and answer session with Paul White, Futureworks head of study, the Loreto music technologists met people who are studying at the specialist school and got to listen to their final year portfolio.

“All students had a great time, with some of them seeing a professional studio for the first time,” said Music Technology teacher Mr Roberts. “They benefited greatly from the Q&A session, which was very informative about the ever-changing world of the music industry,” he added.

ImageFutureworks is a relatively new purpose-built educational establishment and one of many to develop direct links with industry, notably the BBC’s MediaCity. It delivers courses in Sound Engineering, Music Production, TV and Film Production and Post Production, Visual Effects, Games Design, Games Development, Game Art and 3D Modelling and Animation.

Later this term the AS Music Technology students will be visiting Manchester’s Blueprint Studios, where the likes of Justin Timberlake and past Mercury Music Prize Winners, Elbow, have recorded.
