Mary Ward Day Celebrated

ImageImageStudents made friends with a snake, skateboarded for the first time, mastered a circus unicycle, climbed a mountain and even went to Wales to celebrate Mary Ward Day.

All students and staff took part in something new and different to rejoice in the gospel values of the Loreto Sisters: freedom, justice, truth, sincerity and joy.

It was a chance for everyone to expand their horizons, reflect on their beliefs or step out of their comfort zone.
ImageThere was plenty to satisfy animal lovers with students heading off to Chester Zoo, hanging about with monkeys at Trentham Monkey Forest, coming face to face with sharks at the Blue Planet Aquaruim or meeting rainforest creatures such as pythons and tree frogs in the college labs.

Students discovered how chemistry can be creative and stimulate the senses by dyeing fabric and creating ice cream with chemicals while others crafted paper memory boxes to help treasure precious moments.

ImageActive students cycled 20 miles on the Trans-Pennine trail, joined a Charity 5-a-side football tournament and tackled the adventurous activities on the Crocky Trail.

Others with more artistic interests went to Yorkshire Sculpture Park, saw a theatre production of King Lear and joined a tour to find out about Manchester’s ‘Madchester’ musical past.

Other activities included visits to the Museum of Science and Industry, the Imperial War Museum, Bradford Media Museum and Forensic Science Activities at Manchester Museum and even to the top of the Ellis and Kennedy Building.

Some students went further afield to Blackpool, York, Southport, Chester and even Conway Castle in Wales.
