Patryk Szczerbinski, who is studying a BTEC National Diploma in Information Technology, has just finished 3rd in the Formula BMW Intersteps Championship.

InterSteps is a new-for-2011, national championship for junior racers. It is designed to provide an affordable bridge from karts to cars which is open to drivers between the ages of 15 and 19.

ImageEntrants such as Patryk race identical 1200cc, 140mph BMW-powered Mygale FB02 wings-and-slicks single-seaters and get to race at top British circuits including Silverstone, Brands Hatch and Donington Park.

Patryk, who attended Our Lady's RC Sports College prior to coming to Loreto, had an unlucky first half of the season and so was not in the running to win the championship. But he has dominated the second half of the season and managed to gain enough points to compete for the 2nd place in the championship but ended up with coming third.

In general, this was a very successful season for Patryk as he managed to get 6 wins, 3 pole positions, 10 podiums and 4 fastest laps in 20 races in the 2011 season which is a pretty impressive result.
