Sports stars at Loreto have been honoured with a special celebration evening with awards presented by Manchester United Legend Paddy Crerand.
The sports presentation evening was a chance for Loreto College Sports Department & Enrichment staff to celebrate accomplishments over the last academic year which has included major successes in basketball, netball and football.
Principal Ann Clynch paid tribute to the sporting achievements: “This has been yet another successful year for all the sports teams and sports performers at Loreto. As a community both staff & students are very proud of all of your achievements. Well done!”
Mr Adams, Head of PE & Enrichment said the college’s sporting success shows the value of the enrichment programme to students at college.
“We have had an extremely successful year but the presentation evening was about the students who have played for one of our teams and not just those who have won local, regional & national championships,” he explained.
The evening was well attended by students and parents from a variety of the sports teams. It was an opportunity for the college to showcase the trophies which the various college teams have won over the last year. These include:

In addition the college presented all Loreto players with an award for representing the college. Each of the teams selected a Player of the Year, a team member who had displayed a high level of performance and consistency throughout the year whilst representing each sport. These awards were given to:

The abilities that our students acquire through working as part of a team – collaboration, confidence, cooperation – may bring the immediate success of winning but also result in lifelong skills.
