ICT Prague Trip

ImageICT students managed to mix industry and culture in an exciting visit to the Eastern European city of Prague.

The 26 BTEC and AS ICT students stayed in a 4 star hotel close to the historic area of the Czech capital and managed to squeeze in plenty of sight-seeing between informative visits to gain a better understanding of computer systems.

In a visit to one of Prague’s transport HQs students learnt how trams in the city are monitored using a computerised wall map and how they use IT to deal with emergencies. They also visited a supermarket distribution centre to see how IT is used to despatch goods with radio frequency armbands sending messages to the warehouse.

ICT teacher Mr Chambers said it was an interesting trip with students making many new friends with the added bonus that low prices meant students brought money home!
“Trips included the castle, royal palace, St Vitus’ Cathedral and the funicular railway,” said Mr Chambers.

“Some students also went to a couple of museums, while others preferred to stroll around the city shopping or sight-seeing. Our group did us proud and were good ambassadors for Loreto,” he added
