Oxbridge Unit

·      The college runs a flourishing unit that helps potential applicants enhance their skills, through presentations from university staff, help with application writing and practice interviews.

Oxbridge

·     On average Loreto has six or seven successful applicants to Oxford and Cambridge each year.

·      They join some twenty six former Loreto students who are already studying at one or other of these prestigious universities.

·      All the Loreto students who have gone on to Oxford or Cambridge university are pleased to mentor, shadow and talk to possible Oxbridge applicants.

The majority of Loreto students going on to university are successful in gaining places in the prestigious 'Russell Group' of universities.

Cambridge Shadowing Scheme

·      Each year, Loreto is successful supports students to gain places on this important scheme that gives a flavour of Cambridge student life.

Young Gifted and Talented (YGT)

Loreto College encourages exceptionally gifted students to apply for the organisation Young Gifted and Talented (YGT).  This membership organisation, for students between the ages of 11 and 19, is for young people who have been identified as being in, or having the potential to work in, the top 5% of the ability range.  Membership of YGT provides youngsters with an opportunity to enjoy a range of activities and services specially designed to enthuse, develop and challenge gifted and talented students.

Manchester Access Programme

·      Students are successful every year in applying for Manchester University’s project which helps the students to develop the skills necessary for Higher Education. A bursary is available for who succeed in winning a place on the MAP project.
