Edale Fieldtrip

ImageImageLast week Loreto’s geographers enjoyed scorching temperatures as they went out to Edale in Derbyshire to collect river data for their January exam.

More than 40 students went to Edale to research the River Noe and its tributary Grinds Brook and another class will be heading out to finish the study next week.

Half of the students went up the valley to reach the source of Grinds Brook, which is near the famous Derbyshire Peak Kinder Scout, while the others concentrated on areas lower down its course.

“It was a joy to be out on such as sunny day,” said Head of Geography Mr McCabe, “the students behaved well and collected the data they needed very efficiently,” he added.

“It is vital that students get the chance to put what they’ve learn in the classroom into practice,” said Mr McCabe, “Geography is about the study of the world around us and so we try our best to maximise our students’ experiences of the world.”
