Do Something Funny For Money!!

ImageLoreto is gearing up for a week of fun events in an effort to raise £1,500 for Comic Relief.

Right now, as you read this, Comic Relief cash is hard at work supporting people and communities in real need – both across the UK and in the world’s poorest countries.

And students at Loreto are also hard at work coming up with exciting fund-raising ideas that will have college buzzing in Comic Relief week from 14th to 18th March.

Geography students are busy making ridiculous volcano hats to wear on their upcoming field trip to Mount Etna in Sicily. So while they do something ‘Silly in Sicily’ these are some of the other events happening in college.

ImageMonday and Tuesday: During long tutorial, cakes will be delivered straight to your form – bring your money and your appetite!

Wednesday: The media students have made their own music videos, being shown in the E&K building. Come and watch!

Thursday: Drama students are putting on a show with a number of comedy sketches, so make your way to the E&K theatre to cheer up your week.

Friday: Saving the best till last - fancy dress!! Be inventive! You could wear red or dye your hair, or come in any costume you find in your wardrobe remembering the Comic Relief slogan – Funny for Money! If you don’t fancy dressing up you could always have your face painted at dinner time instead!

Meanwhile there will also be a hilarious competition around college to identify photos of staff when they were young.

Students are coming up with inspired ideas such as  Jake Perry-Gardner, who will be transforming into a ‘Human Doodle.’ In support of Comic Relief he will be allowing you to draw/write anything you want on him (charity related preferred) for just 50p a go!

Comic Relief do amazing work, but without the right funds behind them it can’t continue. They target many groups and situations, some examples are; young people with mental health problems, young people and alcohol, sexuality exploited and trafficked young people, and domestic and sexual abuse.

If you have a good idea on how to raise money individually, with friends, or maybe in form groups please get sponsor forms are available from Ms Cooper, Ms Stirzaker and Ms Henderson.
