The Dick Camplin Education Trust generously make scholarships to students needing financial support to help them progress to University.

The trust was set out by David Camplin in memory of his father to support students who may not have the financial and social advantages that other students have. David works tirelessly throughout the year with business leaders and professionals raise money for the awards for which the college is very grateful.

At a special Dick Camplin Awards ceremony 13 award winners were honoured, watched by their families and friends. Malcolm Evans from Haden Freeman also attended as well as Dick Camplin scholars from previous years. These included Gail McManus who has just gained a First Class degree from Manchester University and is about to start a job in Brussels, plus Farah Ahmed who is just about to start with a Law firm following her Law degree from Manchester University.

Dick Camplin WinnersSenior tutor Ms Barker commented that The Dick Camplin Scholarships continue the work of the college by providing students who have overcome many barriers to achieve academic success and who are ambitious to succeed in the future.

She said the scholarships enable them to buy essential items for their university courses such as laptops, course books and specialist equipment.

“In addition to this financial element many of the Dick Camplin scholars have received support and encouragement to cope with the social and emotional demands of University study and life,” she added.

“There is no doubt that these awards make an enormous difference to students enabling them to dramatically improve their life chances.”
