Clovis Asong, who is studying for a BTEC National Diploma in Sport, has just represented England at the Youth Commonwealth Games in the Isle of Man and won.

He beat off competition from runners from South Africa, Kenya, Australia and New Zealand to win the gold medal. This will be added to his collection which already includes gold medals from the European Youth Olympic Games, from the ESAA English Schools' Track & Field Championships and from the English Athletic Championships.

Clovis has a natural talent in athletics and has already been compared to many great athletes. However, Clovis is aware of the importance of his education and has chosen to continue in his education after completing his GCSE’s at Our Lady's High School in Blackley. Clovis said he selected the BTEC National Diploma in Sport course at Loreto because, “Loreto was recommended to me by my teachers at school. I came to open day and all the staff were really friendly, I knew they would give me the support I need.’’
