Classic Civilisation students visit British Museum

ImageImageStudents have been unravelling the mystery of the Classical world by studying pottery and artefacts at the British Museum.

The museum in London holds a treasure of art from the ancient world and the 17 students made the most of the trip which forms part of their Classics AS year.

Classic teacher Ms Drumm said the students enjoyed finding and studying the Greek pots they have studied as well as seeing the spectacular Parthenon sculptures for the first time.

“They also enjoyed seeing other exhibits such as the famous Rosetta stone which was carved in 196 BC and the rest of the extensive Egyptian collection,” she added.

For students seeing the ancient objects in real life was ‘awesome’ and ‘amazing’ and they enjoyed trying the decipher what the artefacts symbolised.
