Loreto’s Charities group have once again run a successful week of events to coincide with this year’s Sports Relief. The events (in-keeping with the sporting theme) included fiercely contested staff versus student sporting fixtures.
A variety of staff took on the North West College League winning netball team in a tough match, but the closest result of the week was the basketball match which finished with a final score of 31:30 to the student team who snatched victory in the dying seconds! The team included students from the successful basketball academy.
The week culminated in an exciting day on Friday 23rd March where Loreto Talent Show winner Nischal Rai (who is a talented musician and singer) was the support act for a staff led band event which attracted much attention.
The annual cake sale saw students and staff alike in a baking frenzy! Other events on the final day included a face painting service provided by art department staff and students, and also henna and nail painting, again run by talented student volunteers.
Students were encouraged to raise sponsorship through fancy dress for Sports Relief itself, the CAFOD appeal and local charities. The fundraising total for these events alone has topped £1,100 with funds still to be counted. Student’s enthusiasm, dedication and motivation is – as always – inspiring. A big thanks to everyone involved!
