A stunning exhibition to show off the best of the college’s creative talent attracted more than 800 visitors from all over Manchester.
The exhibition of art and design was the first chance the public have had to appreciate Loreto College’s new impressive, ultra-green £20 million building.
Guests from schools and other colleges together with students and their families flocked to the event which showcased work from photography, graphics, textiles, 3D design, media, film and art.
The fine weather meant visitors enjoyed the beautiful garden campus and could fully appreciate how well the college has blended its historic chapel with the new state-of-the-art Ellis and Kennedy building. Students enjoyed relaxing in the shade of the college’s many mature trees.
Principal Ann Clynch commented: “It was a wonderful evening. The Art Exhibition is always a highlight of the college year because the student art work is so astonishingly good.” “The opportunity to showcase Ellis and Kennedy Building on this lovely summer evening was too good to miss. The evening was a great credit to the work and creativity of all concerned.”
The new building has the latest in energy-saving technology with solar panels, an underground heat transfer system, natural ventilation and a roof that collects rainwater which is re-used. In order to ensure all students have the best facilities right across the college the Ball building is a hive of building activity as its classrooms and labs are brought right up to date.
Parents were impressed with the modern spacious Ellis and Kennedy building with its light cafeteria with stylish furniture. The recording studio, television studio and hi-tech control in the theatre also showed visitors just how innovative and well-equipped Loreto College is.
