Art and Design Exhibition 2012

ImageImageThis year the Art and Design Exhibition evening was yet again an impressive event showcasing the outstanding work of Loreto students in Art, 3D Design, Textiles, Graphics and Photography.

In addition to this there were significant contributions from students in Music, Drama, Dance and Media and Film.

Over five hundred visitors were able to enjoy the well maintained grounds, many sitting outside eating the wonderful refreshments in the rare but very welcome early evening sunshine.

Performing art students used the gardens for cameo performances to entertain all. As visitors entered the Ellis and Kennedy building they were treated to three floors of exhibition work as well as a diverse programme played by Loreto music students.

The variety of impressively stylish textile work was enthusiastically admired: much of it can be seen, modelled by our students, in the fashion show video clip on this site. Art students’ work filled the studio in the chapel block where visitors were impressed by the high standard and the visual impact of the work that we have produced this year.

The entrance in the Ellis and Kennedy building also displayed a considerable range of work from our art students alongside extraordinary large prints from photography area, and exciting multi- media 3D design showing off the models influenced by a visit to Yorkshire Sculpture Park.

ImageAlong the 3D Design corridor there was more 3D design work together with a range of graphics. Both were impressive from the high quality and attention to intricate detail. Visitors to graphics were particularly impressed by the professional standard of the visuals and the introduction of moving images - a new focus this year.

The Media and Film suite in Ellis and Kennedy featured the high quality media coursework submitted this year together with a range of impressive storyboarding from Film students.

A memorable evening showcasing the talent of the Visual and Performing Arts students and the dedication of the staff: no wonder the sun shone on so many gifts so well used.
