All you need to know about medicine

ImageImageHigh flying students aiming for a career in medicine took tips from the experts at a special conference at Christie Hospital.

The would- be medics were told how best to get through the first hurdle of applying to medical school as well as hearing about the typical day in the life of a medical student.
 
In addition the conference outlined what they could expect at the start of their career working as a junior doctor and what work is like in more senior positions such as a hospital consultant who can earn over £90,000 a year.
 
Head of Careers at Loreto College, Mrs Halkon said the conference gave the students a real insight into the demands of career in medicine and the qualities and skills which make a good doctor.
 
“The conference was very inspiring and a wonderful opportunity to here about medicine as a career from highly qualified and experiences Christie staff,” she added.
 
In addition the students were given a very useful chance to do work experience at the Christie Hospital which is one of Europe’s leading cancer centres, treating more than 40,000 patients a year and serves a population of 3.2 million across Greater Manchester & Cheshire.
