An ex-Loreto student is shooting to the top thanks to his talent for archery.
Will Fortnam is attending Para Development Training run by Archery GB, the governing body for the sport, with the hope of getting into the GB Para Squad by the 2016 Paralympics.
He has already become the Cheshire Archery Association Boy Champion and his talent means he could be a future Paralympian athlete.
“The Talent Identification Development weekend in October went very well and I’ve been invited to the Para Development Training Camp in February,” said Will.
“My ambition for the future is to get on the GB Para Squad by the Rio Paralympics at the latest,” he added.
Will, who has spina bifida and uses a wheelchair, is studying politics at the University of Lancashire. He currently shoots for the Lancaster University Archery Club team but when he was at Loreto he usually shot for the Bowmen of Bruntwood. During his time at Loreto College Will studied Chemistry, Politics, History in addition to Theology and Ethics.
He started archery in 2001 after being inspired during a family visit to a medieval castle. Prior to attending Loreto Will went to Newall Green High School in Wythenshawe.
