Merseyside - never an easy place to go for a game of football but for our first match of the season when we were all new to one another it proved a bit tougher than anticipated. We started slowly and for the first 15 minutes we couldn't quite get control of the game. As half time neared we grew into the game and snatched at a few long range efforts on goal - then we lost the ball in the middle of the park, failed to clear a cross and went 1 nil down. We made 4 changes at half time and quickly gathered momentum, Ross Forrester broke into the box and smashed the ball past the oncoming keeper. Chances came at both ends as the game got stretched but it was the home side that took a late chance with a good strike past Remus Chai in goals. Unlucky not to get a point but plenty of positives to take away from the game. Captain for the day Jerone Wilde grew into the game, Nana Assan looked dangerous in attack but Coulton Millington in central midfield caught the eye with a Man of the Match performance.
