To celebrate Black History Month, AS Sociology students visited the People’s History Museum to take part in a living history workshop. The workshop, entitled No Bed of Roses, followed Gabrielle as she made the life-changing decision to move from the Caribbean to Manchester in the 1950s. Through the use of performance, interactive drama activities and gallery exploration learning was brought to life.

The students used this opportunity to gain a greater understanding of the core concepts covered in Sociology so far. Students also explored themes such as migration and racism. They found the workshop both enjoyable and educational, and the gallery exploration gave them a chance to take part in their own role plays.
